Sacramento to Jackson Gap

Tuesday June 15, 2010

Today has been an awesome day. We had another early wake up for being late to the vans which was at 5 o’clock. We were hot as hell when we went to sleep but between the industrial fan blowing all night and the California drop in night temperature we were kinda freezing. I met Matt Elwood’s father and he was really cool.
The ride was pretty easy for the first 30 or so miles. Very steady inclines and declines. There was a decent amount of traffic but we still felt safe. “Tony Stark” and the rest of us were helping Shaun get his rhythm and cadence down. He hasn’t had much riding prior to JOH.
The last 30 were pretty damn hilly but I was having recollections along the way from 08. We got strayed off course for about 3 miles towards the very end right before we hit the vista point. Nooooo problems crew [= we knew the sick downhill was too good to be true…so we had to climb back up it.
Stage up at the Vista Point was nice. We had a 3 car police escort down a huge hill into the city…We were treated so genuinely and whole hearted by these people…it’s one of the most talked about Friendship Visits on the Journey of Hope.
After that me and a few guys just went out and scouted (Marshalled) the route for tomorrow…came back to lodging for a team meeting…then started goofing off until now as I upload these posts I hope you all are reading and get ready for the hardest ride of the summer tomorrow!!

With love, DB.
